Laminate Flooring
Features: Consists of a wear layer, photographic layer, and a fiberboard core, typically featuring a click-lock installation system. It offers superior scratch resistance compared to vinyl and closely mimics the appearance of hardwood.
Pros: Highly scratch-resistant, durable, often more affordable than high-end vinyl, and provides a realistic, warm, and comfortable aesthetic.
Cons: Not fully waterproof, making it susceptible to swelling from spills or moisture, and can sound hollow underfoot.
Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) Flooring
Features: Constructed from PVC plastic, this flooring is generally waterproof, flexible, and often softer underfoot. It is durable, handles temperature changes well, and can be installed via click-lock or glue-down methods.
Pros: Completely waterproof, making it ideal for moisture-prone areas like bathrooms and kitchens, highly durable against impacts, and quieter than laminate.
Cons: Can be susceptible to denting from heavy furniture, and lower-end products may look or feel "plasticky".
