Do you have a warranty on your workmanship?

Yes, we have a one year workmanship warranty on all of our flooring projects.

What is the best way to clean my new floor?

Sweep or vacuum regularly to remove grit, then clean with a damp (not wet) mop and a cleaner made for wood floors. Avoid steam mops and standing water, wipe up spills right away, and use felt pads under furniture to prevent scratches.

Do I get to see the actual stain samples on the wood before the entire floor is stained?

Yes. We test stain colors on an actual cutoff of your specific wood before we start, so you can see and approve the real color and sheen ahead of time.

Are you licensed and insured through the state of Utah?

Yes, BJ Hardwood, LLC is fully licensed and insured in Utah.

Is it best to leave our house when you are installing or refinishing the floors?

For refinishing, we recommend being out of the house (and keeping pets away) while we sand and apply finish, since there’s dust and fumes involved. For most new installations, you’re welcome to stay – we’ll let you know ahead of time if your specific project calls for anything different.

Do you provide free estimates before starting any activities?

Yes, every project starts with a free, no-obligation estimate so you know the scope and cost before we begin any work.

What is the difference between prefinished and unfinished wood flooring?

Prefinished flooring is sanded, stained, and sealed at the factory, so it installs faster with less mess. Unfinished (site-finished) flooring is sanded and stained after installation, which takes more time but lets you customize the stain color and sheen to your exact space.

Can wood flooring be installed in kitchens and bathrooms?

Kitchens are generally fine with proper precautions. Full bathrooms are riskier due to constant moisture, so we’ll often recommend an engineered wood or LVP option for wet areas instead – we can walk through the best choice for your space during your estimate.

When do I schedule the flooring to be installed in my new home?

Flooring typically goes in after messier trades like painting and cabinetry are finished, but before final trim and appliances. We’ll help you sort out the right timing for your project when we put together your estimate.
